Eric had received word of the issue with the paparazzi from Rodney, after the man had gotten Kyla to work safely.

As for him, he was just fine on his own. After the gala, he was hailed the ‘if you touch me I’ll stick my foot up your ass’ celebrity, and many of the overzealous photographers of Boston had taken notice of this. They knew not to fuck with Eric, and they definitely kept their distance.

With no hesitation or fear, Eric threw on his sunglasses and breezed through the paparazzi with a sly smile on his face. He even tossed them a few answers to their questions because why the hell not? He had nothing to hide.

“Is Kyla your girl, Eric?”

Eric chuckled. “Yes, she is,” he replied with a nod.

“How’s Victoria Swanson taking it?”

“Why would I know, or care how she’s taking it?”

They laughed at that, but Eric wasn’t joking. He didn’t give a shit what Victoria thought, especially after the woman thought she had enough pull in this town to threaten Kyla. It was laughable.

“Isn’t she your ex?

Now, Eric had to roll his eyes at that one. The lies desperate people told always surprised him.

Just as he made it to his car where the valet was standing with the door open for him, he answered the last question that he would answer today. He was ready to clear this little rumor up anyway.

“I’ve never even spoken to Victoria Swanson for more than five minutes each time I saw her. Why on earth would you think I’ve dated the woman? I barely know her.”

And that was the truth. Everything he knew of Victoria came from their childhood, but Eric moved out of his parents’ home and into his grandfather’s home when he was ten years old. He hadn’t seen Victoria again until he graduated law school, and even then it was never personally, only at events.

His last answer seem to get the photographers even more riled up as they shouted out even more questions regarding rumors of a love affair with Victoria, but now he’d pretty much already killed all of those with that one answer. Eric ignored them and entered his car, starting it right away and heading out into traffic.

He had thirty minutes to make it to court for the last day of the trial he’d been working tirelessly to win.
